A Mountain-biking nirvana

Unlike more rule-ridden national parks, the majority of Jasper’s trails are multipurpose and not just exclusively reserved for hikers.

Cyclists experience few limitations here and it’s an open secret among mountain bikers that the park harbors some of the most panoramic, varied and technically demanding rides in Canada, nay North America.

Many trails emanate from the townsite, including challenging single-track on the Pyramid Bench, and easy forest paths around the Athabasca River Valley. Unless you’re on a fat bike, the season runs from May to October, which is also when bears are most active. Ride with caution (and bear spray).

If you didn’t bring your own bike, there are half a dozen rental businesses in Jasper Town offering a full gamut of makes and models.
